Ziplining

Take part in one of Costa Rica’s most popular and thrilling exports in this jungle adventure. Costa Rica is the birthplace of recreational zipling. Today, this experience is mostly enjoyed recreationally to experience the thrill of gliding through scenic surroundings. At Valle del General, you will have the opportunity to traverse 7 cables and 10 platforms. Begin your adventure at the Mirador, where your bilingual guide will explain safety procedures and techniques to enjoy your adventure. Then, descend to the bottom via a series of ziplines, seeing spectacular views of the Valle del El General. End your adventure by crossing a suspension bridge, which floats 45 meters above the jungle floor, before repelling down for a final thrill. Quench your thirst after a short hike back to the Mirador with a fresh tropical beverage and fantastic views. When you are ready, your transportation will take you back to the hacienda, approximately a one hour drive.

Los Vaqueros Horseback Riding

Begin the morning at Los Establos for one of AltaGracia’s signature experiences. Guided by our skilled vaqueros, guests will ride through open mountainsides, waterfalls, and scenic trails overlooking the San Isidro Valley—an authentic connection to nature and hacienda tradition.

The Experiencia Equina at Los Establos and our Picadero is the perfect introduction to equestrian adventure. These two hours are crafted to your needs: whether that is simply spending time with our friendly equine family; feeding and bathing the horses; learning how to saddle up; or experiencing a guided or unguided ride in our indoor riding ring. We will ensure to help build your confidence with these majestic animals.

Mina Escondida hike & Cultural Coffee

Hike up to one of the country’s most famous crops from bean to cup with Los Jilgueros, our local coffee cooperative. High up in the hills of Cedral, tour this small, but renowned Pérez Zeledón producer, from their coffee farm to the processing facilities. Wrapping up the tour, you’ll get a brief lesson in various roasts, before sitting down for a tasting. Tastings are accompanied by a collection of local sweet and savory treats, and provide the perfect morning or afternoon snack. During harvesting season, this experience takes on new life, where you will get a full immersion into the coffee experience.

Cajón & The Valley by ATV

Depart directly from the hacienda on ATV for a rugged adventure across mountainous terrain. Your two-hour tour will take you through our small surrounding communities, over running rivers and to majestic view points. Enjoy back roads as you get a simple view of local life, discover the varied landscapes in our immediate surroundings and ride through our local village of Cajón. Along the way, you’ll encounter the San Pedro River - one of the largest in Costa Rica - with its crystal clear waters. Here, you’ll be invited to take a small pause - and even have the opportunity to enjoy its fresh waters if you’re feeling brave. Hop back on your motorized vehicle to take in mountain vistas from San Ignacio, one of the best miradors in the area with clear views of AltaGracia, before heading back to the hacienda.

Ficus Tree Climbing

Test your strength - both mental and physical - in the peaceful surroundings of our secondary forest. Venture to the heart of El Rio where you’ll meet a tall ficus tree, whose unique trunk makes it perfect for climbing. Securely attached to a guiding rope - and with the expert guidance of your Guía - it will be your challenge to scale the tree. Whether you make it all the way to the top, or only half way up the trunk, this thrilling adventure will teach you as much about yourself as about the wonder of Mother Nature. Once you’ve hit your limit, enjoy an adrenaline rush as you abseil back to the forest floor.
